Antipersonnel landmines maim and kill 15,000-20,000 people per
year. Most of these victims are women, children and farmers in some
of the world's most impoverished nations. The majority of the world
has joined the Mine Ban Treaty, which outlaws this weapon. The U.S.
has not joined the treaty, but a large coalition of organizations and
individuals is working to change that.
The U.S. Campaign to Ban Landmines is based at the Nobel Peace Prize
co-Laureate Physicians for Human Rights at 100 Boylston Street in
Boston
(near the Boylston T stop on the green line. Also near Orange and Red
lines).
