WHAT: Commencement Planning Meeting
WHEN: Thursday, 4/18, 7:30
WHERE: 1-246
------
Hi.

It's us again and we're having another meeting!

You're receiving this e-mail because you signed a petition opposing
the Institute's undemocratic choice of World Bank President James
Wolfensohn as this year's commencement speaker or because you put
yourself on peace-announce (silly you!).

We wanted to thank you once again for your support and to let you know
what's been happening. A group of us delivered the petition to Kirk
Kolenbrander, who is Chuck Vest's special assistant. Unfortunately,
the administration has chosen to ignore our petition and all of your
signatures. James Wolfensohn will continue to be this year's commencement
speaker, and he will be speaking unopposed. Adding insult to injury,
Chuck Vest and Co. also chose to mock our request for a forum with Mr.
Wolfensohn by suggesting that perhaps 30-40 preselected students might
be able to meet with him on the afternoon of graduation.

Well, this doesn't make us very happy and so we're doing something about it,
and we want your help! We'd like you to come to a meeting Thursday, April 18th,
at 7:30 in 1-246 to discuss what we plan to do about Mr. Wolfensohn's presence
at our graduation. Come hear what we've done so far and what we plan to do,
and also to offer your input.

Hope to see you there,

-Students for a Democratic Commencement
