When terrorists crashed planes into the WTC and Pentagon bldgs
on 9/11, the entire nation was mobilized to fight terrorism.
Women are also living under a perpetual campaign of terror-
1 in 4 women raped in her lifetime, the most common cause of death
of pregnant women is murder, the most common cause of death of
women at work is murder-- yet, where is the outrage?
Where is the mobilization against this unacceptable state of
terror? Help MIT be a place where we *do* speak out against
the terror campaign against women by helping to prepare the "Smash
the Patriarchy" bake-sale this Int'l Women's Day, Fri 3/8, in
the Student Center.
We are having two more meetings for preparations.
If you can spare a small bit of time and talent, we need
to make a drop poster and complete other arts & crafts
for the day this Mon evening (3/4):
Mon, 8pm 13-3101
and for those who want to bake for the sale and decorate with others
Thurs evening (3/7) at 7pm
East Campus Dorm, 4th West kitchen
Others will bake on their own and bring things to the booth
in the student center on Fri at 10am.
Also, if you have some literature or other thing you would
like to see at the booth, bring it along. We hope to have
all sorts of themes represented that have to do with challenging
patriarchy in all its devious and hurtful forms.
And if you would like to help staff the booth, please write to
resisters@mit.edu and give your availability.
In hope and solidarity,
Aimee
