Hi,
I'd like to bring your attention to a conference to be held at MIT next week
(Friday and Saturday), being run by the MIT and BU Student Pugwash groups:
Technology in the New Global Context:
Rethinking Social Responsibility
The motivation is to highlight social implications of science and technology.
Invited speakers include: Tiffany Shlain, Philip Morrison, Michael Levi, and
many others.
There will be three panel discussions:
(1) GENETIC ENGINEERING AND FOOD SECURITY
(2) INFORMATION, COMPUTERS, AND SOCIAL CHANGE
(3) CLIMATE CHANGE AND SUSTAINABILITY
The third of which is clearly relevant to the group.
In addition, Paul Farmer and Noam Chomsky will be talking on the "The Uses of
Haiti".
For more information, see: web.mit.edu/pugwash/www/conf_home.html.
We hope to see you there,
Daniel
