Science in Cuba
Tuesday, February 19

A group of Cuban scientists, in town for the American Academy of Science’s Annual Meeting, will participate in a panel discussion entitled “Science in Cuba:Exploring Opportunities for Collaboration.” The goal of this discussion is to explore possibilities of collaboration between the scientists and their American
counterparts. Each participant will present a synopsis of his/her work. Panelists include Sergio Pastrana, Foreign Secretary, Cuban Academy of Sciences; Victor Bruno Henríques Pérez, Vice President, Cuban Physics Society, Board of Directors, CUBASOLAR; Maria Caridad Cruz, Urban Agriculture Program, Antonio Nunez Jimenez Foundation for Nature and Man; Dr. Lupe Guzman, Instituto de Medicina Tropical Pedro Kouri; and Roberto Castellanos, Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment. Cuban Photographs
through March 17, 2002

The work of two New England photographers will be on display in “Two Views of Cuba: Photographs by Lou Jones and Peter Kayafas.” An opening reception will be held on Friday, January 18, 2002, from 6-8 p.m. The artists will give talks separately. Peter Kayafas on January 19, and Lou Jones on March 9. Both
