I asked him to provide a translation, and I'll forward it if he does. ... In one of the biggest newspapers of Turkey, www.radikal.com.tr, today there is an article about a Turkish national who was *tortured* by Alabama police after September 11 incidents. He had a taxi business running with the necessary papers, such as the greencard. He was put into jail because he happened to have an accent, and argued with a police officer. The article reports that he was kept in jail for a week, was not allowed to call the consulate or a lawyer, beaten up by night stick, and chained by his ankles. (they have some photos online) He is back in Turkey now and through American Consulate in Istanbul, he is sueing the police department. This kind of articles do not run in www.cnn.com or www.msnbc.com. I have no comment on this, I just translated the article.
