This four-day intensive study will provide participants with a deeper
understanding of the politics, science, and economics of
biotechnology, and the connections between biotechnology, racism, and
agriculture. The course will also offer a critical perspective on the
developing political opposition to biotechnology worldwide.
Three classes will be offered throughout the four-day course: The Science
and History of Biotechnology, Politics, Activism, and Biotechnology, and
Racism and Capitalism in Agriculture. Evening workshops will include a
two part series on Globalization and Invasive Species, and in-depth
sessions on farm policy and global biopiracy. Time will also be available
