Last year alone, over 2.2 million people died of AIDS in Africa - about 85%
of all AIDS casualties in the world. By the end of the year 2000, 10.6
million African children will have lost at least one parent to AIDS. These
children are left without even the barest necessities and are thus unable to
pursue regular lives. The AIDS epidemic is robbing Africa of an entire
generation and leaving it with a very bleak economic outlook.
Please join the MIT African Students' Association in offering support to
HIV/AIDS victims and orphans in Africa. All of the money you donate will be
sent to non-governmental organizations in Africa. It will serve to provide
the most basic necessities to AIDS orphans, such as clean water, food,
clothing, and schooling. It will also contribute to AIDS prevention, as well as
treatment and counseling services for people living with the disease.
You will receive a red AIDS ribbon with every donation and a wooden African
carving with every donation of over $20 (while supplies last).
