Profile of ELIZABETH A. NEUFFER
Elizabeth Neuffer has been a foreign correspondent for the Boston Globe for
more than a decade. Most recently, she was the Globe's European Bureau
Chief based in Berlin, Germany from 1984-1988. She focused on covering the
Balkans, winning awards for her coverage of the Bosnian war and its
aftermath. She has also reported from Rwanda after the genocide; from Saudi
Arabia, Kuwait and Iraq during the Gulf War; and from the Soviet Union
during Gorbachev's resignation and the emergence of the Commonwealth of
Independent States.
A recipient of the Edward R. Murrow Fellow at the Council On Foreign
Relations in 1998-1989, Neuffer was also awarded an Individual Project
Fellow at the Soros Foundation's Open Policy Institute to write a book
about a people searching for justice before the two war crimes tribunals.
Her book, The Key To My Neighbor's House: Searching for Justice in Bosnia
and Rwanda, will be published by Picador USA (St. Martin's Press) in
November,
2001.
She has recently returned to the Globe after a leave of absence to finish
her book, and is based in New York, covering global issues. A graduate of
Cornell University, she has a master's degree in political philosophy from
the London School of Economics.
