looks like two candidates will be in town early Saturday morning;
of course, after you finish demonstrating for or against these
candidates, you will come to the SOA talk at 1 pm in E51, right?! ;P

        * SHUT DOWN THE SCHOOL OF THE AMERICAS *

           Saturday, March 4, 2000, at 1 p.m.
           MIT E51-115 (Wong Auditorium,Tang)
          <whereis.mit.edu/bin/map?locate=wong>

         * beginning with "Crossing the Line,"
         a short video documenting SOA protests

        ----------------------------------------

        What is the SOA?

        The US Army School of Americas, based in Fort Benning,
        Georgia and funded annually by US taxpayers, trains
        Latin American soldiers in combat, counter-insurgency,
        and counter-narcotics. Graduates of the SOA have been
        responsible for some of the worst human rights abuses
        in Latin America, including the assassination of
        Archbishop Oscar Romero, the rape and murder of four
        US church women, and the El Mozote Massacre of 900
        civilians. The SOA training manual, among other abuses,
        advocates interrogation techniques including torture,
        execution, blackmail, and arresting the relatives of
        those being questioned. SOA-trained soldiers have
        consistently targeted priests, nuns, labor organizers,
        educators, and students in their war against their own
        people. Help close the School of Assassins!
