Candlelight Vigil against Domestic Violence, cosponsored by Asian Task
Force on Domestic Violence
Weds., Oct. 17, at 8:00 PM
Location: Memorial Church, Harvard University
Did you know?
**October has been declared National Domestic Awareness Month by President
Bush.
**Domestic violence has resulted in many tragedies that we cannot afford
to ignore.
**Almost one-third of American women murdered each year are killed by
their current or former partners, usually a husband.
**Approximately 1 million women annually report being stalked.
**Many children also suffer or witness abuse in their homes, which can spawn
future legacies of violence in families across America.
**Since the issue of domestic violence is often silenced in
Asian-American cultures, it is a particularly serious problem that must be
openly
addressed.
A large coalition of Harvard College and Law School organizations have
joinedforces to organize this candlelight vigil to promote awareness of this
solemn issue.
Undergrad cosponsors: AAA, Asian American Brotherhood
Law School cosponsors: APALSA, Stop DV, Women's Law Association
The Asian Task Force on DV is also a key organizer of this vigil, and
will provide speakers and candles.
So please come support awareness of Domestic Violence! Candlelight Vigil
