I think this is great news about Hatch being reinstated. Great work!
(to everyone who sent letters, emails, etc)
I also think it is really important that we press President Vest to
issue immediately a very clear policy on the rights of members of the
MIT community to express (actively or not) their
political/social/religious/etc views and beliefs.
This is part of a letter I am sending to President Vest:
I urge President Vest to issue an immediate and clear policy
guaranteeing the rights of all members of the MIT community to
exercise their rights to Freedom of Speech, Freedom of the Press, to
Peaceably Assemble, to Petition the Government for a redress of
Grievances, and to NOT be subject to unreasonable searches and
seizures. All members of the MIT community must be supported in the
exercise of their responsibilities as citizens and residents,
including the chosen role of social activist.
This was a terrible incident, and it would be equally terrible if it
happened to anyone else.
