the name of the suspended MIT employee is Hatch Sterrett.
we had avoided mentioning it until he had spoken to a lawyer, and just
now heard that he had done so. here's an excerpt from his latest email:

So I give my permission to reveal my name in your press release, website
page, etc.
I have received good supportive emails in response to our alerts from
various students, including Harvard, etc. THANK YOU -=- that really, really
feels good, I tell you!

i feel as though our (meaning the students involved in the shell
protest and in speaking out for hatch) efforts haven't been explained
very well. for example, the web page refers to us in the third person
"a group of concerned students," etc... let me lay out a few things.
-our first priority is to get hatch reinstated.
-the second priority is to raise a stink so that his example can
never be used to intimidate any other MIT employee.
-these priorities come straight from hatch. we meet with him daily
and he reviews everything we post online. there will be a statement
by him on the web page soon, but in the meantime he hasn't had as much
time to spend in these email lists as under-occupied grad students
like me.
hopefully this will clear a few things up,
