Due to threats of violence, up to 1.5
million Afghanis have begun to flee their country. Many are being denied
entrance to neighboring countries; most are facing starvation and
disease.
YOU CAN HELP.

United Trauma Relief (UTR), a MIT-based humanitarian aid organization, is
accepting donations for Afghan refugee relief programs. 100% of all funds
will be consolidated and incorporated into the U.N. High Commissioner for
Refugees (UNHCR) program, which includes non-governmental organization
participation in a massive relief effort. This weekend alone, airlifts
and trucks funded by the program have brought 2,000 tents, 6,000 quilts,
2,000 kitchen sets, 4,000 buckets and 9,600 plastic sheets to refugees.
But the refugees still need over US $55.5 million worth of shelter
supplies and US $10 million for health and sanitation needs, among other
necessities for basic survival.

The UNHCR program still needs US $20 million to launch the relief effort,
position relief material, and start initial site rehabilitation.
