Yes, duplicate strings are a problem. This is probably from people
attempting to store something with an apostrophe in it; that fails, so
then they try again with a doubled apostrophe which succeeds. But the
entry ends up getting added twice.
Did Jack Holt <genoa@mit.edu> return to being a student after his year
off? He had worked out a solution for the apostrophe problem, but
didn't have time to implement it.
