Hi!

I've got two suggested changes to the "register a user" function in
moira. Right now, we primarily use that to turn techmail-only people
into full athena accounts.

Rather than let you specify a username of someone to register, you
have to specify their uid. Being able to specify a username would be
easier for us, since if the person doesn't already have a username we
just use the regular /mit/register/register program.

The more important change I'd like to see, though, would be for the
function to not use nothing as the default username when you're
registering someone. It's very easy to accidentally change someone's
username to nothing or to make a typo when you enter the username and
change it to something else. I'd like it to either use the username
you specified as the default (if this function were also being changed
to allow you to register by username) or to look up the person's
username and use it as the default, even if it were something like
#12345.

Since I'm on a roll now, I'll make two other requests too :-)

When creating a new filesystem, I'd like it if the default type were
changed from NFS to AFS. Also, if the lockertype is "homedir", I'd
like it to use the name of the locker as the default owner and group,
rather than using my name as the defaults. We don't usually make
mistakes on either of these, but if it's not too much work to
implement it would save us some typing.

Thanks, and please let me know if you need any more info!

						Carla
