Hi. I am trying to change e-mail address in the mailing list "eit" and
in the mailing list "drool" (it's the same STRING entry in both lists)
from "Elliott 'ote' Bradshaw <ote@ote.vis.com>" to "Elliott ''ote''
Bradshaw <ebradshaw@vis.com>". Using blanche, I was able to add the new
address, but cannot erase the old one. Could you please manually erase
these two occurences of the "ote@ote.vis.com" address in the lists "EIT"
and "DROOL" please?

For the bug-moira people, I've enclosed the OLC log file addressing this
question, which should have all necessary information.

		Thanks,
		Brad

Question:
I am trying to update someone's e-mail address on a list and am getting
the following error in deleting the old address:

% blanche eit | grep Elliott
Elliott ''ote'' Bradshaw <ebradshaw@vis.com>
Elliott 'ote' Bradshaw <ote@ote.vis.com>

% blanche eit -d "Elliott 'ote' Bradshaw <ote@ote.vis.com>"
blanche: Unknown string while deleting member Elliott 'ote' Bradshaw <ote@ote.vi
s.com> from eit

I am getting similar problems using listmaint. How can I delete this entry?

Hello, Brad...

In "listmaint", did you choose "6. (members)..." and then choose "2"
for remove?

You should specify type STRING,
and give the name "ote@ote.vis.com"

I did that, here's what it said:

Command: 2
Remove a member from this list
Type of member (KERBEROS, LIST, STRING, USER) [user]: string
Name of STRING to delete [finagler]: ote@ote.vis.com
Are you sure you want to delete this member? [n]: y
listmaint: Unknown string in DeleteMember
Command:

Put quotes around it...

And use STRING instead of string

Sigh... Try using the full thingamajig, in double quotes and without:

Elliott 'ote' Bradshaw <ote@ote.vis.com>

You mean like this?:

Command: 2
Remove a member from this list
Type of member (KERBEROS, LIST, STRING, USER) [user]: STRING
Name of STRING to delete [finagler]: "Elliott 'ote' Bradshaw <ote@ote.vis.com>"
Are you sure you want to delete this member? [n]: y

Hmmm... try it without the double quotes, then?
This is odd.

Nope. Same thing without the double-quotes.

My guess is that it has to do with the single quotes around "'ote'". When
I added the new copy, I had single quotes in the name but it parsed
it into double quotes automatically.

This is awful :(

Try using \' for the single quotes.

Nope. Doesn't work with \'ote\', with or without the whole string
in double-quotes.

Hmmm... maybe you should talk to the accounts consultants and have
them manually nuke it.

What's their e-mail address? Also, should I or you send a copy of this OLC
log to bug-moira?

You probably want to go ahead and send it...

You can save this to file with "replay -file filename" at the olc> prompt.
Their e-mail address is "accounts@mit.edu"

Sorry -- was called away for an hour. Thanks -- I'll send this to them
along with a request for them to nuke it. (Then I'll mark this request
as complete). Thanks!
