Trying to modify a user w/ "." as their login name

Hi! Ok, here goes...I'm not sure if this is a bug, or if moira
legitimatly is not letting me do this...
In modifying someone to "registerable" I accidentally changed the
login name to be ".". Currently, the entry stands as:
Desired login name: .
Login name: . Full name: Mc Clanahan, Betty Lou
User id: 27374 Login shell /bin/csh Class: GUEST
Account is: Registerable (0) MIT ID number: 052408046 Signed: Yes
No secure password set.
Comments:
I've tried to modify the login in name to be "#27374" but it fails to
modify with the following error message:
moira: Signature failed to verify in ModifyFields
User . not updated due to errors.
I'm using the text client.
