% hesinfo probe grplist
Hesiod name not found
Problem:
- My grplist size now exceeds the maximum nameserver packet size
- I am over the maximum number of groups (not the cause of the above,
but will cause other problems).
ARGH!!!
I reported this yesterday with no response, so I took it upon myself to
look at the databases until I could find the problem.
Now, I will simply state the following in the most composed state that I
can muster amidst all my frustration with denial of access due to system
screw-ups!!!
o Blanche should warn people if they have arguments reversed.
It leaves people too vulnerable, and also messes up other people like
me... The cause was that someone probably did:
blanche -a <list> <user>
(and thus added <list> to the user's group since every user has their
own list). This has been the cause of my past 5 Hesiod grplist screw-ups.
o Fix Moira so that certain groups are only meaningful in AFS. At least
half of my groups are only significant in an AFS context!!!
o Do something so that a person doesn't lose all his grplist information
due to a Moira propogation.
Now for an exclamation...
ARRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
