Actually, I wish to ammend my previous comments about the mode bits to
state that MIT is somewhat split in its usage of the feature we implemented.
We use it on the cell containing our "Athena sources", but we do not use
the feature in the other cells (the other cells are fairly standard in their
configuration).
I also wish to state that my views on how it should be implemented were my
own, and not necessarily that of MIT's. I apologize for any confusion if it
appeared that MIT had somewhat voted on the matter. The comments that I sent
in were merely developer's comments, and not a reflection of MIT's policy
regarding its usage.
