Subject: reg applet not dealing well with "password in password dictionary" error
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

Hi,

New users registering for accounts have complained of being confused
when they get the following error.

"An unexpected error occurred while trying to register your username and
password
with the Kerberos server. The error was: "Password is in the password
dictionary"."

Please try again later. If this problem persists, contact the Athena
User
Accounts Office in N42-105A, x3-1325."

From what I can see, this error shows up if the user chooses a word over
6 characters, that is in the dictionary. (shorter words return the
"that password is too simple error"). The problem is that the applet
won't let them choose another password, but rather makes them start all
over again. Can this be modified so that it returns to the password
selection screen?

Thanks!

Mark
