After speaking with Ingres support folks here, I found out that this is
a change from v5 to v6 of Ingres.
Ingres 6 supposedly doesn't need these lockmode statements, since it has
a real journal and a commit function.
The best way to fix it would be to do a "set autocommit on" statement
when the database is opened, but that results in another error saying
you cna't do that from QUEL.
An alternative is to globally set autocommit mode with ingsetenv, but I
have only stabbed at the dark on this one, since I don't have a manual
to check on this.
I'll send patches for this and other problems when I return.
