That'd be cool, although we're probably sending updates to machines
that don't have a /var/athena... (mailhubs, for instance, probably).
Of course, anything that's getting a DCM and doesn't have a
/var/athena probably doesn't have mortals logging into it either, so
you could test for /var/athena and fall back to /tmp...
