Sorry to butt in, but it looks to me like the code changes to
blanche.c would be trivial.  Each failure calls com_err to report a
failure.  Most also set success to 0.  A few don't.  All someone would
have to do is go through blanche.c and make sure that every call to
com_err in main that reports an error message also sets success to 0,
right?  Granted, I've been away from this code for over eight years,
and I spent only about two minutes looking at this, but it could just
be that simple...
