Oops. I collapsed the three "identical" bits of vendor, model, and os
sanity checking code together into one function without noticing that
the model code allowed initial numerics (which the vendor and os code
didn't, and which the comment above the model code claimed it didn't
either.)
I'll fix it when I get back. (Monday). If you send me a list of
machines you had to put "bad" model names on, I'll fix them for you
too as penance. :)
