I helped write that one. We needed something quick and dirty, so I
modified the regular register to be reg_extra. We had intended on
going back and writing it over from scratch, but never got around to
it...
I don't remember too many details about it, but you can try emailing
me some code fragments with your questions and I'll see what I can
come up with.
