January 2003 Status Report

Project name: Student Ebill/Epay Discovery Project
Project leader: Sandra Chauncey
Report date: 2/04/2003
Submitted by: Joanne Hallisey
Web URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/ebill/

Accomplishments past periods:

support the recommendation
-Continued to build financial analysis.

	-target is July mailing
-use communication to freshman sent by Academic Resource

April 25 deadline

recommendation.
-Planned for ITAG review.
-Contacted Jeff Mehlman for discussion on student privacy issues.

Goals for the coming period:
-Conduct student focus groups.
-Attend ITAG review with inifiNET technical personnel.
-Outline implementation plan based on the infiNET projection.
-Complete recommendations and finalize report.
-Present final report to sponsors.

Next community milestone:
None.

Issues:
The team did not meet for several weeks because of scheduled outages
and work conflicts. This delayed work on building the case for the
report.

If the hope is to be able to implement a solution in the summer of
2003 a decision will need to be determined before the beginning of
April 2003.

While earlier conversations indicated agreement with the online
approach, there is a lingering concern that the privacy committee
will veto this project. It is critical that we have that
determination now.

A contract with infiNET is being reviewed so that it will not delay
progress if the project is approved for implementation.

Key learnings:

Team dynamics:
The team is committed to completing this work in time for a possible
summer implementation.

Additional comments:
None.
