Project Name: One to One Student Computing Pilot
Project Leaders: Phil Long, Joanne Hallisey
Report period: April 14, 2001 to May 13, 2001
Submitted by: Joanne Hallisey
URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/ownership/
Accomplishments past period:
- Finalize details for the smaller MITCET pilot project.
- Prepared presentation for grants committee
- Grants committee presentation by Vijay - April 25, 200. Got verbal
approval for funding for minimal IS support of laptop initiatives.
- Prepared financial information and presentation for funding for a
wider initiative addressing the long term IT infrastructure, support
and service issues for a large-scale One to One Student Computing
implementation - Presented Student Computing proposal for ITLT review
and input on May 3, 2001
- Revised presentation slides and sent to Vijay Kumar and Jim Bruce
for final editing on May 7, 2001
Goals for the coming period:
- Submit proposal on long term student computing program for funding
Issues:
- The laptop initiatives have been given verbal approval for funding
minimal IS support. Support of these projects will not generate
much, if any, information about a larger scale implementation.
Key Learnings:
- Persistence pays off. Recognizing that the larger scale
implementation would be expected regardless of the smaller pilot was
important.
Team Dynamics:
No team yet. All of the people identified as potential team members
have been very good about providing information. This dynamic
continues.
