Accomplishments of the past period:
Posted minutes and best practice exercise results from Stakeholders
meetings 2/28.
Posted results of faculty and undergraduate administators surveys.
Asked undergraduate administrators to prioritize their wish list.
Conducted faculty interviews and began faculty wish list.
Conducted a second student focus groups and began student wish list.
Continued survey of best practices.
Scheduled a demo of best practices for stakeholders.
Goals for the next period:
Meet with Scott Thorne to talk about how the data warehouse might
help in the advising process. (3/16)
Demo best practices and get feedback from stakeholders (3/29).
Complete faculty interviews.
Complete student focus groups.
Continue to prioritize and merge wish lists.
Compile a list of all the decisions students are asked to make, then
evaluate how easy or difficult we make their decision-making process.
Schedule a stakeholders meeting for April.
Issues:
We have seen some really good best practices at other universities, some of
which use commercial products like Degree Navigator or CNAV. Yet all of the
systems we have seen (including home-grown systems) use logins and
passwords for authentication. After our discussion with Scott the team will
need to meet with the Information Technology Architecture Group to talk
about the technical feasibility of some of these products. While the group
is not going to be making any product recommendations, we will need to
address the technical feasibility of the top items on our wish lists.
