As a result of some recent discussions within ITLT and within the
greater IS Project Leader community, we recently updated our project
management pages (web.mit.edu/pm) to include a brief glossary of project
roles and responsibilities for sponsors, project leaders, champions,
facilitators, and stakeholders. This material can be viewed at:
http://mit.edu/pm/glossary.html

The following summary statement (which appears at the very top of the
glossary) should give you a flavor for what this is all about.

>>>>>>>

The following is a glossary of some key roles and responsibilities
associated with a typical IS project effort. Not all roles, such as
facilitator or champion, are present in every project effort. These
definitions are provided as examples but typically vary from project to
project based on its staffing, scope, and subject matter. Project
Managers can use the below descriptions in conversations with the
different role players in order to be explicit about expectations,
involvement, and contributions to a project. The below definitions
resulted from discussions among the Information Technology Leadership
Team (ITLT) and include refinement and additions by the Project Leaders
in the Discovery, Delivery, and Integration Processes of IS.

I hope this material may prove helpful to you in your project work.
Thanks to all involved who contributed to the conversations which led to
this document.
