Project: VDIN Rate Review
Leaders: Leslie Liu, Pat Fitzgerald
Accomplishments:
The major accomplishment in the last two weeks has been the "fleshing
out" of the rate model. We invited Lu Keohane and Joni Cyr to
evaluate various ideas we had about restructuring telecommunications
rates. We also worked out ideas for network rates, including a "basic
utility" model (certain network services are provided like a utility)
and a model based on bandwidth utilization. The cost and revenue
analysis is approaching a final stage. Numbers are available, but
will require additional tweaking.
Goals for next period:
We have invited Jim Bruce to our next meeting to seek his opinion on
our ideas. We plan to line up a subsequent meeting with John Curry
and Doreen Morris to gain additional guidance and direction. We are
starting to document all the recommendations we have brought up in the
last few months which will ultimately
appear in the final report.
Issues:
There has been some frustration within the team as we approach the
last two months of the project. Although we are planning to finish
and present our recommendations to management soon, we are just
starting to detail the rate model options and take a close look at the
cost/revenue analysis. The frustration seems to be "why has it taken
so long to get here and why aren't we farther along"? We think some
of the reasons have been a lack of strong sponsor leadership
(sometimes our discussions seem to go around in circles) as well as
the sheer amount of work to be done and the limited time of team
members.
Learnings:

Team Dynamics:
Due to the looming deadline and sense of frustration, we have been
experiencing some anxiety.
