Project Name: One to One Student Computing
Project Leaders: Phil Long, Joanne Hallisey
Report Date 9/13/2000
Submitted by: Joanne Hallisey
URL: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/ownership/

Accomplishments past period:
- Established
- Project announcement
- Developed a big picture view of what's in One to One computing
- Wrote a rough draft charter
- Created scenarios
- Began listing constraints
- Created outline for Project Notebook web pages and began to populate the
pages

Goals for the coming period:
- Begin writing document
- Collect information on costs of scenarios
- Collect examples of experiences at other schools
- Try to determine the effect of the i-Campus, D'Arbeloff, Wireless and
other initiatives on this effort and vice versa

Issues:
- Emerging technologies in hardware and software make specific
recommendations difficult
- Expect getting consensus on components of the offering will be difficult
considering we need to be sure we touch base with students, faculty, IS,
vendors and others
-Some recommendation is required on short notice. The effort to produce
this continues to uncover issues that will require addressing. This is a
complex project.

Key Learnings:
- Never try to eat an elephant in one bite

Team Dynamics:
Good relationships among team members. Everyone understands the enormity
of this effort.
