Project Name: Electronic Reserves

Report Date: 1/28/99
Accomplishments:

Worked on brief statement of technical issues (final draft is near
completion)
Communicated with Docutek regarding concerns over future directions
Scheduled visit with pilot class next week
Began work on help screen/handout for class
Document Services completed pricing model
Fine-tuning local modifications to system
Scheduled meeting (Cattey, Counterman, Davis-Millis) to finalize
plans for tracking print usage and discuss other matters related to printing
during testing phase
Goals for the coming period:
We go live with our pilot class next Wednesday!
Issues:
We were deeply disappointed to learn that Docutek has decided to
implement a Microsoft-based database structure in the next release of ERes.
We have expressed our disappointment to them in no uncertain terms and are
preparing a formal letter to their CEO. Nevertheless, we do not feel that
this decision erodes the viability of ERes for the 3-5 year period in which
we intend to use the product. Docutek intends to support all installations
of the current version, and has indicated their willingness to work with us
in creating an improved database structure which will run on a Unix system
should we ever decide to work on one.
Key learnings:
We have resolved most of our technical issues; at this point, the
emphasis is shifting to workflow and implementation matters.
Team dynamics:
Couldn't be better
Comment:
It's time to start planning a celebration.
