Project Name: Athena/SGI Strategy (aka CEASE)
Project Leaders: Abby Fox, Naomi Schmidt
Report Date: November 17, 1999
Project Notebook: http://web.mit.edu/cease/www/
Goals listed in last report:
- Gather final data
- Draft final report
Accomplishments past period:
- Report outline and initial draft completed
- Calls to team to finalize report content, including:
- status of data from vendors
- clarification of other pending questions
- agreement on which materials to include in full
(ganderso provided some guidance on practices for
separating materials into public vs. restricted)
- Iterative team review, editing of report
- Final draft of report submitted to vkumar and ganderso for review
Goals for the coming period:
- Discuss/revise report according to outcome of review
- Move report to public location once approved
Issues: none
Key learnings:
As with any attempt to summarize a discussion, the process of
agreeing on final text pulled together from conversations, email,
meeting notes, etc. can extend the discussion in important ways.
In particular, it can:
- expose discrepancies where we thought we had achieved agreement
- cause us to revisit tacit assumptions
- raise new questions for discussion
Team dynamics: N/A
Additional comments:
The team was truly cooperative (and patient) in the report writing
process; one thing I struggled with was how many interim drafts
to burden them with, to balance status updates against review
burnout.
