Project Name: Online Credit Card Processing
Project Leader: Lorraine Rappaport
Report Date: November 4, 1999
Project url: http://web.mit.edu/is/discovery/ccard
Accomplishments past period:
- Completed interviews with interested merchant groups and compiled
requirements comparison matrix
- Sketched scenarios for accounts receivable processing, including process
and options for sending data to SAP
- Initiated discussions with a second vendor candidate, Trintech, about
their PayWare product
- Sent (actually, re-sent) our requirements to SAP so that they could try
to build them in to SAP's future product offerings
Goals for coming period:
- Qualify or disqualify Trintech's PayWare product as a viable competitor
to Open Market's Transact product
- Seek commitment from sponsors for whatever recommendation comes from the
above item
- Continue discussions with FSS to explore options/plan for SAP integration
Issues:
-the usual: balancing immediate need (customers want this now!) against
long-term strategic direction (the SAP question)
Key learnings:
-none
Team dynamics:
- tired and a little overwhelmed. This is a complex project that could
easily utilize 2-3 full time team members. The reality - pressures and
deadlines of other projects and operational responsibilities - can't
support this. (I'm sure everyone can relate to this one!)
