Project Name: Events Calendar
Project Leader: Debby Levinson
Report Date: 6/02/99

Accomplishments past period
- Wrote charter; Greg publicly announced project
- Interviewed 16 different constituencies around campus about desired
features in an events calendar, as well as their support/need for the
service.

Goals for the coming period
- Interview two more groups (IAP and Resource Development)
- Compile interview findings
- Report on interview findings to Kathryn Willmore, sponsor of the project
- Begin defining business specifications for events calendar

Issues
- Some groups, such as Sloan, need to restrict viewing of events to a
specific segment of the population (e.g., Sloan School students only). This
would require setting up access controls. If access controls are *not* part
of the final specifications for this project, Sloan may continue with plans
to buy their own system.
- Posting policy (e.g., authorized posters vs. allowing everyone to post)
remains a thorny question.

Key learnings
- Every group we have interviewed has been extremely enthusiastic about the
project.
- Top feature requests: searchability; import from databases/export to
databases or web pages; categorization.

Team dynamics
- good

Humanity has an amazing inability to plan. Not too many
generations ago, when our relatives lived by hunting and
gathering, the inability to plan for the next season meant
death. Planners survived. The clueless died. But today,
Homo Sapiens eats at McDonalds - for the moment, planning
and survival are not strongly linked. --David Isenberg
