So, this has come up in the past with no useful solution, but I'll bring
it up again.
Recently I got newer versions of libs for the graphics locker that are
use by many programs, and that using shared libs for them would have
been nice.
The athena model makes shared libs a bit more problematic than normal though.
As of now, the two tricks I know of are special compile-time flags
(such as -R for solaris, -G for aix I think, etc..), or environment variables
at runtime. There is also another possible idea of a shared-libs locker
which would have symlinks or somesuch, and that everyone would have in
their library path by default. Finally, there is the option of modifying
add to also be able to include the lib directory with a special flag.
Are there any other ideas? and would it be a good idea to have a
standard convention (is there one already?)
