krb5b7 telnet client doesn't work to krb5b4 telnetd?

With authdebug enabled, here's what happens when I attempt to connect
to a krb5b4-based telnetd from a krb5b7 telnet client:

Before I spend time tracking this down, can anyone tell me if there's
a known incompatibility between b7 telnet and b4 telnetd that is
causing this problem? Will installing a b7-based telnetd on the server
fix it?
