Can I set kdb from /etc/passwd

Dead sir,
Can I get the users id and password from /etc/passwd to kerberos
database ? If yes, Please tell me for do it.
And kerberos is can used for NIS ?.
I want to used it for set the security on Xyplex terminal server.
