After spending a day banging my head on this, I'm crying "Uncle." I=
just
hope the problem isn't something stupid on my part. :-)
I have been trying to get kadmin5 to work. I have set up a server o=
n a=20
Linux box running 1.3.95. Everything compiled up and installed just fine=
. I=20
also have a HP 9000/715 running HPUX 10.01. I have compiled Kerberos 5Be=
ta6 on
both machines.
I can do a kinit on the HP with success. I can also do a klist with=
=20
success. What I can't do, is run kadmin5 on either the HP *or* the Linux=
box.
When I try, I get:
cheops:/h/e/krb5-beta6/src: kadmin5
kadmin5: ldb
Enter password for ctrown/admin@NET.CSUCHICO.EDU:=20
kadmin5: Unknown code dvNj 80 - (ldb) protocol command INQUIRE-PRINCIPAL =

Memory fault(coredump)
I get the same basic mess on both machines. Error messages are fine=
. I
like those, but coredumps?? Should never happen. I looked in syslog on =
the=20
server machine(Linux) and saw:
Jun 27 15:37:45 ickis syslog: Try again - 19177: cannot open database
everytime I tried to run kadmin5. I traced this down to where kadmi=
n5d
tries to open the database(Duh!). This message didn't tell me much, so I=
added
a line to print out the value of what key_open_db() was returning. Turns=
out
that key_open_db() was returning 11. I was unable to track this down to =
any=20
string in the header files.
I have tried recompiling the entire tree to no avail.
I did notice that unless I start kadmin5d before I start krb5kdc I g=
et:
ickis:/usr/local/krb5/sbin# ./kadmind5 -n
kadmind5: cannot initialize database (Try again).
kadmind5: cannot initialize key and database.
Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be? Thanks for your =
time.
