I am wondering if anyone has had success in getting Qualcomm's
Eudora Pro (MS Windows, 32-bit version) working with a Kerberos V5 KDC.
If so, I would be interested in hearing from you.
Using the Kerberos package that I downloaded from the Qualcomm site
(krbv4win.dll, kclient.dll, krb.con, krbrealm.con), I get the
error message "Password Incorrect" when I enter my Kerberos ID
and password into Eudora. By watching the status of the krb5kdc
process on my KDC, I can see that the process becomes active whenever I
enter my password in Eudora, so it appears that a connection to the
KDC is being made, but the attempt to authenticate fails for some reason.
Technical support at Qualcomm informed me that Eudora only supports
Kerberos V4. However, I thought that V5 of the KDC supposedly
worked with requests from V4 clients.
Qualcomm also informed me that their kclient.dll was the 16-bit version,
and that I needed the 32-bit version. They said I could get this from
MIT. I looked around on the MIT ftp site and found a kclient.dll (no
documentation), and tried it. That version failed to connect to the KDC.
Didn't find any source code for kclient.
Anyway, I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has gotten
the Kerberos authentication of Eudoro Pro for Windows working with
a V5 KDC.
My System Specs:
PC:
Pentium 100, 16MB, running MS Win95. Direct ethernet connection
using Win95 TCP/IP.
Eudoro Pro 2.2 (32bit) for windows.
KDC:
SparcStation-IPC, running SunOS4.1.4.
MIT Kerberos V5B5 krb5kdc.
