Are you running the Cygnus distribution? I have not checked the source but
I believe that this "feature" has been removed. Make sure that you
authenticate the principal that you are trying to use.
I know that the BSDi implimentation of Kerberos IV allows users to telnet
in as root even if the pricipal is not a .root principal.
