two comments:
	1) CNS/V4 is configure based, not autoconf based, so it
doesn't make tests, you have to set things up for each platform... it
just does a lot of shell script work to build the Makefiles. (Still
better than Imake :-)
	2) rdist is just "dropped in" to the tree, pretty much, and
has very little connection to the rest of it; it turns out that *rdist
itself* is autoconf based, and you do in fact need to reconfigure (and
delete appl/rdist/config.cache) when you switch compilers. There is a
test for vsprintf that should prevent this from getting built if it's
in the library, assuming the test works at all (check config.log.)

Probably not, as kadmin is a straight part of the tree, not like
rdist... though I haven't seen any failures in kadmin on linux,
usually the version-skew problems are curses related.
