I beleive this newgroup would be useful. I have seen multiple vendor
implementation supporting this interface and a good document describing
all free and commercial products, their compliance and their level of
interoperability would certainly benefit the community as well as
generate ideas about its evolution and direction.

However, for the moment a FAQ document on all GSS-API related information
could be a start. I would definitely want to participate to this one.

The comp.protocols.kerberos is a good template for its setup.

  comp.protocols.gss-api

No, one of the advantage of Gss-api is its protocol for supporting
mechanism independance. Different vendor supporting different mechanism
is to the vendor advantage. In this way, its implementation is more
likely to be chosen to a generic server supporting different mechanism
  types.
