Can anyone tell me why I have to use the -r option when I kinit? I have a test implementation of MIT kerberos(v.4) running a single realm on a single host. The kerb.conf and kerb.realms files are configured according to the online documentation. When I don't use the -r option Kerberos tries to initialize into the domain that is specified in my `/etc/defaultdomain' file not the default realm specified in the `krb.realms' file.

Suggestions are welcome at rmdennis@nps.navy.mil

Thanks,

Ron Dennis
