What's ISODE for in the Kerberos 5 beta?

We're about to try to get Kerberos version 5 up on one of our svr4-based
systems. In looking over all the stuff we need to build (and wow! there's
a lot!) I am a little confused about the isode 6.8 stuff. It appears to
be substantially larger than the kerberos v5 distribution itself. It also
contains daemons and services exclusively for isode. I don't quite see how
all of the isode 6.8 stuff is really necessary. Is it possible that I really
only need part of it?

It looks as if it is going to be MUCH easier to build kerberos 5 than to build
the isode stuff.

Then on a related note, I noticed at uu.psi.com that there is an isode 7.0
distribution. Is it possibly preferable to use that? Does it have the
pepsy-diffs patches in it already?

Thanks for the info
