It has been some time since we've met and the Holidays and closings
coming up will make meeting even more sporadic.
There certainly has been a number of competing priorities for all us
lately but I think it is crucial that we not let those other priorities
and tasks cause us to lose focus on the work this team is charged with.
I've been informed that Jerry Grachow has been briefed on the Kakapo
Team and he is interested in the output from this team. Towards those
ends, I would like to suggest the following:
1. Identify a person, other than myself, to coordinate the meetings
if I am unable to attend. This would include getting the agenda out,
standing in as chair for that meeting, and ensuring that the notes are
distributed.
2. Identify someone to record the minutes/notes. I know this is
always a task one likes to avoid but as I have found out trying to chair
the meeting, participate in the discussion, listen/learn from the
discussion and takes notes is more than my limited capacities can
handle. So, if someone would like to take on that task, I would
certainly appreciate it.
3. Begin sending out an update on tasks and or issues on those
weeks we do not meet. This would hopefully serve the purpose of
maintaining an every other week schedule while maintaining focus and
continuity on what is happening.
4. Help with the topics/issues (agenda) for the meetings. I am
still relatively new to the Win/Athena environment and I have already
learned a great deal from attending the meeting we've had. However, with
the intimate involvement in Win/Athena as well as the General Windows
environment of the other Kakapo team members it would be useful and
quite valuable to here what other team members believe are relevant
topics and agenda items.
All of that said I'd like to talk a bit about some current business:
a. Container Request from Jin Yi who is a Graduate Student in Mech
E. That being Academic - Chad could you please contact her if you have
not already done so and send out to the team pertinent details and some
projected time frames on fulfilling the request?
b. Windows Assessment Report Update - The final copy was received
and a formal process is being pulled together. The review team has been
thanked and informed that their work is completed. Phil Long is
consulting with members of the Managed Windows project in order to
prepare a response to the report recommendations. Kakapo will receive a
copy of the Recommendations contained in the report, the responses to
those recommendations and the associated next steps. We can expect this
around the first week of December. The report and responses are still
currently considered confidential.
c. Kris Nyzio and Tim Brennen agreed to perform the review of
Windows Servers Web pages. Kris has asked for a file count or
permissions to the directory to poke around and see what is there. I'm
not sure who can provide the permissions. If someone could give her the
permissions or let me know who to contact that would be helpful.
Old Agenda Items -
d. Richard, - was there any issues with turning off the Firewall in
SP2?
e. Chad and Richard were going to look into the ACL issues with
MSI's. Any update?
f. Brian still needs to follow up with Richard to determine if
PMATS would be a useful tool for tracking what licenses users have paid
for.
