Hello,

At the August 30th ITLT, we discussed the IS Work database content and the
IS web pages. This is the followup to that discussion.

* The IS web pages and the IS Work database have been updated to reflect
the new organization. There may be some remnants in the IS web pages that
were missed, but all the obvious areas (IS teams, etc.) have been updated.
If you notice anything, please let Kris Nyzio know.

* A new definition of an Activity was developed and is available in the
"about" section of IS Work. Here it is:

Activity Definition
An Activity is used to describe the ongoing work of Process (not Project)
Teams. This ongoing work includes the majority of effort in IS -- keeping
the existing infrastructure and systems running. The initial set of
activities in the IS Work database corresponded to the individual templates
in the FY2001 Budget Book. Each template had a cost object assigned to it,
and described either the work of the Process Team (e.g. Network Security)
or a financial settlement (e.g. Administer Server Operations Pool). Over
time, more fine-grained Activities are being added to the IS Work database.
The Competency Group, for example, has provided more detail on individual
activities such as Recruiting and Performance Management.

Operationally, Process Directors can identify a major IS effort as an Activity.

* Nate should comment on how he'd like the TNS projects categorized. Should
they lumped together?

* Please update your own Projects and Activities if you have not already
done so.

* We did not receive any Strategy & Initiative "pruning" suggestions. So we
(Allison + Bob) will bring our own shears and craft a proposal to present
to ITLT, hopefully by the October 4 meeting. We will also make a
recommendation on how to deal with completed Initiatives.

Thank you, Allison + Bob
