Hah, Alicia,

You're right that the Mission and Vision statements do not pop out at you...but they are there. Right now they are in the .PDF file of the Strategic Plan under the "About IS" section of http://web.mit.edu/is/

However, wait until next week.......Kris Nyzio has already made a nice pure HTML version of the same material. And as soon as the rebudgeting exercise is complete and Dani can review it, it will go up in the same section. You bring up a good point that it the Vision and Mission must appear as the result of a search and we'll check that.

Thanks for the flame...er, rather the very appropriate concern :-)

Chers, Bob

I searched the IS web pages for "Mission" and "Vision" - I came up with one page that looked promising: http://web.mit.edu/IS/org/mission.html and I know that this page is outdated, it was put up in January of 1998.

I also get the impression that the people who design the web pages do not feel empowered to publicize these statements. I hope that none of this is true.

I would like these people to feel that we have very high standards that they need to live up to, if they wish to work for us. We have very high standards for our network and infrastructure, but if the public face we put forward does not reflect this, it is very hard to get outside people to believe this is true.

Perhaps if we presented ourselves in such a manner, outside people would start to really believe that it's true.
