At the AFSUG meeting last week there was interest in the various ways of
using package. At CMU, we have gone through several revisions of package
and the package libraries over the years.
I have placed a "brief" description of the way the andrew cell at CMU
has been using package to update its workstations for the past couple
years in the grand.central.org cell:
/afs/grand.central.org/townhall/wally.andrew.cmu.edu-Suggest-package.at.andrew.
cmu.edu
(hey, I just followed the naming convention in the README file there.)
If there is interest I can follow up with an explanation of our AFS tree
structure, software organization, release tools, and volume naming
schemes. I'd love to see how other AFS sites are doing these things as
well.
